This work is a multi-media installation and 4 minutes performance video addresses the relation between appearance-oriented society and ideology and the complex network between plastic surgery and the logic of capitalism.

The relationship between patient and plastic surgeon is a consumptive supply and demand. And many women chose a realistic solution and a defense mechanism as a plastic surgery against low self-esteem and self-hatred. Ironically, this arbitrary decision creates an obedient relationship between supply and demands.

My starting point of this project was based on the article about recording of conversation during the operation which contains disparaging and sexual assault toward to patient. The plastic surgery gains a monopolistic power and establishes the technological idea of women’s idealistic beauty stands. As this idea is brainwashing women slowly, they rate their appearance 1-10 and try to push themselves toward the ideal femininity. As the business has a strong influence on a woman’s appearance-oriented ideology, its power expands into the cultural aspect.
